What is the difference between breathing for singing and every-day breathing?
The action of the rib cage: As opposed to every day breathing, singers must learn to inhale quicker and exhale slower than is common. When you inhale, you should feel firm support in your abdominal region for strong vocalization. Make sure to keep the rib cage high and wide while remembering to breathe in through the nose. As you slowly let out our through the mouth, remember to keep your ribcage high and tight.
In every day breath, the rib cage expands as oxygen comes in and collapses as the breath is let out.
